What is Masg? From the Gaelic work termed Masg (meaning; to mix or infuse) multi-directional composition better known as Upside-Down Art is the pioneering invention of American Artist L. R. Emerson II.

From his determination to take a concept to its complete fruition, Emerson has realized a lifelong dream though he is admittedly, currently obsessed with the quest for the ultimate composition.

So much documentation has since transpired in the aftermath: In 2005 L. R. Emerson II's Upside-Down Art was introduced to more than fifty major art museums and in excess of 500 galleries throughout the world including The National Gallery, USA, London, Scotland, Australia and Ireland, MOMA in New York City, Musee du Lourve in Paris, The Smithsonian Institute, The Guggenheim Museum, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

It is significant to mention e4fineart.com has since existed as the world's largest solo artist site. Also, in 2009, Emerson published The Purple Tree; Art in a Boundless Age and further documented Masg's twenty-five year development and transformation.

Through Emersons graduate study he further documented his artistic dicsoveries such as his pioneering effort in computer aided design and digital manipulation, which has brought about numerous inventions for advanced digital techniques such as his self termed Digigraph process. On an interrelated note, L. R. has pioneered and documented his innovative ceramic method which he named Clayography and published his Pop Not Manifesto, 2009.

Furthermore, Emerson has been pleased to exhibit Masg artwork in prominent contemporary art museums as well as to have created work for celebrities such as Grammy winning songwriter/singer Leon Russell.

Art Critic Nicholas Forrest, contributing writer for Art and Antiques Magazine has written about Emersons Masg work calling it amazing work by an amazing artist and recently internationally acclaimed artist Georg Baselitz publicized that he found Emersons art inspiring.

This is notable not only considering Baselitz refuses to align himself neither with anything nor anyone, but furthermore this is remarkable considering Baselitz own art work has recently fetched over $4.6 million dollars at auction.

"To me, Masg has turned a momentous corner over the years. Ive looked to new methods of creation for where to go from here. To date, I have received more than 100 awards from my art, and photography. Moreover, I have literally created over one hundred thousand two-dimensional multidirectional works, which can be rotated for an entirely different visual experience and some are designed to be viewed from four or more directions. I have elected to give my art away and frequently donated may art so others may enjoy the rewards of exhibiting Masg art.

My artistic journey has been unusual, exciting and professionally rewarding and I now look to serve the overall public interest of the arts. My direction focuses currently on advocating for unconventional approaches to art making and securing exhibition opportunity for others." (Emerson, 2009)
